GOAT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

School fees in Zimbabwe are $10 a term for three terms. This amount of $30 is difficult for the many orphans, grandmothers raising children, and families living with no income. The unemployment rate in Zimbabwe is 90%. Monde School is in a rural village, one of the poorest. In fact, before we started our lunch program, students were fainting from hunger. Because of our lunches, attendance is increasing yearly.

For a donation of $100, we will buy two she-goats ($60) and pay one year of school fees ($30). No need to buy male goats; they are running wild. We will also pay a Monitor monthly, who will check on all goats, school fees, and keep records. She will have a phone and transmit records to us so we can track the program. We will buy her a bike so she can check on each family monthly.

Zimbabweans do not generally drink goat’s milk, but they do eat goat meat. Each goat should produce one, possibly two kids each year. This will support a child throughout his entire school career. One year of school fees will provide a good start.
