How can you help the orphans and vulnerable children of Zimbabwe? Here is a list of the costs for various necessities to MAKE ALL CHILDREN SMILE IN ZIMBABWE: $10 a MONTH per child will provide 44 lb. of mealie meal a month. This is the staple food of Zimbabwe, a white maize meal, which is boiled and made into sadza. We sometimes provide peanut butter, oil, and a few vegetables to add to it. $20 a MONTH will provide anti-retrovirals for those children suffering from HIV/AIDS. We also provide these medications for some of the parents and caregivers. $15 a YEAR will provide school fees and supplies for a primary school child. $20 a YEAR will provide school fees for a secondary student. $20 a YEAR will provide the uniform, including shoes, that a high school student needs to attend school. $30 a MONTH will provide food for a family of four. $50 a MONTH will provide gas used by Tecla Mugomba to visit children in the village, transport them to the hospital, etc. Gas is currently about $6 a gallon in Zimbabwe. $100 will pay the postage to send a box of clothes, vitamins, blankets, etc. to the children. $150 will pay for a party for the 35 orphans we support, with large vats of meat, chicken, rice, vegetables, dessert, etc. At the party, Tecla distributes clothes, toiletries, blankets, and other items sent from America. $300 will provide one month of lunches for 300 children at the village school, where the poorest and most vulnerable children live. A large vat of mealie meal is made into porridge by teachers and parents. Peanut butter, oil, and sugar are added for extra nutrition. The Bank of the San Juans is an incredible supporter of our project. If you would like to transfer money once, monthly, or yearly, click here.
